Research & Area of Expertise

Dr. Samuel Nuñez’s research examines how culture, identity, and social context influence health behaviors and outcomes among Latino populations, particularly Latino sexual and gender minority men. His work focuses on understanding how cultural norms, stigma, and social support systems shape HIV prevention, treatment adherence, and mental health.

His areas of expertise include:

  • Cultural and Behavioral Health

  • HIV Prevention and Care Continuum

  • Stigma, Identity, and Health Disparities

  • Community-Based and Qualitative Research Methods

  • Health Equity and Culturally Responsive Interventions

 

Through an interdisciplinary lens, Dr. Nuñez integrates psychology and public health frameworks to co-design research that is both evidence-based and community-informed. His work aims to bridge the gap between research, policy, and practice by translating lived experience into actionable public health strategies.
